Jet2 Provides Passenger Update Amid Met Office Weather Warnings Across the UK

Jet2 Advises Passengers on Potential Weather Disruptions

Jet2 has alerted passengers to potential "weather disruptions" due to a series of weather warnings issued by the Met Office in the UK.

Various yellow weather warnings for rain and wind have been issued for different parts of the country, with the Met Office cautioning that these conditions may lead to disruptions in all modes of travel. Strong winds are expected in Scotland from 6 am on Sunday (January 21) to 6 am on Monday (January 22), and a yellow warning for rain covers parts of northern England, including Greater Manchester, from 6 am on Sunday to 6 am on Monday.

Jet2's website states, "We are aware of various weather warnings for the remainder of this week that may affect some of our UK operations. Our operations team is continually working with the Met Office to ensure we have the latest information so we can react quickly to any disruption. If you are due to fly on a Jet2.com flight during this period, please allow extra time to get to the airport and carry any essentials in your hand luggage (with liquid restrictions in mind). At present, all our flights are scheduled to depart on time, and our check-in desks will continue to close 40 minutes prior to the scheduled departure of your flight. We will always (where required) board our flights for an on-time departure, meaning we can depart as soon as we have clearance. During events of bad weather, this could cause a longer than usual wait onboard the aircraft, and we apologize in advance if this is the case."

Additionally, snow warnings are in place for Thursday (January 18), with an amber warning for northern parts of Scotland. Met Office Chief Meteorologist Jason Kelly mentioned, “With deep snow already lying on the ground for many in the northern half of the UK, we’re going to see a significant topping up of totals over the next couple of days, especially for those in the north of Scotland. Within the Amber warning area, an additional 15-20cm of snow is possible in a few locations. Strengthening northwesterly winds will also cause some lying snow to drift, potentially bringing some additional hazards, such as temporary blizzard conditions."
